Group Bookings at The Old Mill Holiday Hostel

We welcome group bookings at the Old Mill. Some regular groups who stay with us are Shamrocker Tours; Killary Tours; School groups from Yorkshire, England, French and German schools; Scouts; Gael Force West competitors; Special Needs groups.

Some groups like to bring their food and do all their own cooking. We also can organise meals for groups by prior arrangement.

We accept block bookings for Christmas (when we are closed for business), it is possible to book the hostel for a group and we would give the group the caretaking responsibility.

The following procedure applies to Group Bookings:

  • Name of Group.
  • Name of Leader of Group.
  • Number of persons (giving the male and female breakdown).
  • Total cost.

Excellent Location...

The hostel has been popular with many different age groups, from children to mature adults. Its central location is a great advantage. Some groups come on a pilgrimage to climb Croagh Patrick, visit Knock Shrine, visit Ballintubber Abbey and attend church services (only a short walk from the hostel). Some come to study the town's architecture, local archaeology, geology.

Local Amenities...

A lot of groups take advantage of our close proximity to the Leisure Centre with Swimming Pool and Gym and also the very comfortable Cineplex. Matt Molloy's Pub on Bridge St is a great favourite for all those who enjoy traditional Irish music. The annual Arts Festival held in the first week of October each year is very popular also and is well worth a visit.

Westport has a lot to offer groups in leisure and adventure activities and also heritage and cultural activities.  Clew Bay Heritage Centre is a local museum and genealogical centre and is based at the Quay. To find out more information phone +353 (0) 98 26852

The National Museum of Country Life at Turlough outside Castlebar is well worth a visit.
