Excellent Traditional Irish Music - Matt Molloy, a
member of the world famous Chieftains has his own pub on Bridge Street,
where the best in traditional music can be heard nightly all year and
where, if you are lucky, you might even get a chance to join in a
session with Matt himself.
Other pubs Hobans, the Octagon, McGings, High Street, McCarthys, Bould Biddys all have lively sessions.

Westport House Visitor Centre
Ancestral home of the Brownes, a fine Georgian Mansion, built on a former site of Grace O'Malley's castle. A visitor centre nowadays. In the grounds there are lots of adventure activities, Train rides, Slippery Dip, Pirate Ship, Boating, Pitch and Putt, Camping park, Restaurant and Pub. It is open to visitors in the Summer months.
Open Air Market (Saturdays during summer months)
An indoor Country Market is held in the boxing club building off James Street car park every Thursday from 8am to 2pm all the year round and offers homemade baking, organic vegetables, plants and an assortment of crafts.
Ireland's Holy Mountain is only 5 miles away. According to legend, Saint Patrick fasted on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights and banished the snakes from Ireland. It is a place of pilgrimage. click here for more info
Clew Bay Heritage Centre situated at the Quay
This small museum houses lots of artifacts of Westport and the surrounding area. It also has a genealogical service where they will trace your roots if you have ancestors in the Westport area. They give interesting Historical Tours of Westport, by prior arrangement and during the Summer months on Thursdays. Ring 09826852 for details.
